A simple dessert, thought to spend an afternoon with the family kneading, decorating and tasting a snack. Try you too to make these typical Christmas holidays sweet treats, easy and greedy. Thanks to Betulla for this delightful idea.
In a bowl, mix the two flours, add the butter at room temperature, the brown sugar, the grated rind of half a lemon and the seeds of half a vanilla bean. With the tips of fingers, or in a food mixer, knead the dough until it has a sandy mixture. Finally add the yolk and knead until you get an homogeneous dough. Wrap it with a food film and let it rest for at least an hour in the fridge. Divide the dough into about 4 little balls. Roll them out with a rolling pin directly on the baking paper until it is about of 5 mm thick. Cut a base with the round cutter.
With the same shape cut a lid and in its center a star.
Place a teaspoon of jam in the center of the basic disk. Brush the edges with cold water as a glue in order to adhere the two parts of the Hand Pie. Place the holed disc over the jam and make you sure that the two edges adhere well.
With a fork seal the edges of the sweet treats. Proceed like this for all hand pies.
Bake in a hot oven at 180° C for about 15 minutes.
